Stop The Internet Blacklist

Demand Progress

Just the other day, President Obama urged other countries to stop censoring the Internet. But now the United States Congress is trying to censor the Internet here at home. A new bill would have the Attorney General create an Internet blacklist of sites that U.S. Internet providers would be required to block.

This is the kind of heavy-handed censorship you’d expect from a dictatorship, where one man can decide what web sites you’re not allowed to visit. But the Senate Judiciary Committee is expected to pass the bill — and Senators say they haven’t heard much in the way of objections! That’s why we need you to sign our urgent petition to Congress demanding they oppose the Internet blacklist.

PETITION TO THE SENATE: Censoring the Internet is something we’d expect from China or Iran, not the U.S. Senate. You need to stop this Internet blacklist in its tracks and oppose S. 3804.

Add your name and we’ll deliver your message to Washington.

“We all use the web now for all kinds of parts our lives, some trivial, some critical to our life as part of a social world,” says Tim Berners-Lee, creator of the Web. “In the spirit going back to Magna Carta, we require a principle that: No person or organization shall be deprived of their ability to connect to others at will without due process of law, with the presumption of innocence until found guilty. Neither governments nor corporations should be allowed to use disconnection from the Internet as a way of arbitrarily furthering their own aims.”

ALERT: Please Support Alternative News

Activist Post Special Announcement

We are at the crossroads of a very important time in history. Free humanity is waking up globally to the designs of a corporate-government fusion, and an overarching agenda which does not place individual liberty as a priority. Each day it seems that a new piece of the puzzle is revealed, and previous shadow dealings see the light of day. This is due in no small part to the pioneers of liberty such as InfoWars who have used their passion for the truth to research and investigate how this system of control came to be.

As the mainstream media continues to mislead the public, alternative news sites have gained popularity simply by exposing the truth. However, the truth tends to be pretty damning to the Corporate State. Therefore, alternative news organizations rarely get large sponsorship — they require viewer support.

Like many alternative news Web sites, it would be very unlikely that Activist Post could have gained the attention it has in such a short time without Alex Jones and Infowars. Infowars consistently publishes our articles, and for that we are grateful.

InfoWars has initiated a Moneybomb for October 14th. The Activist Post is pledging $500 to their goal of reaching $500,000. Naturally, with the state of the global economy, we urge you only to give the amount that is comfortable, but it only takes 999 more equal donations to help them topple their goal.

We want to be clear that we are not affiliated with Alex Jones; not paid by Infowars; and they have not requested that we issue any type of endorsement. We are, however, of like mind and purpose in exposing the truth. If you prefer another alternative news site, then please donate to them and visit their sponsors, as we all need your support to continue our work.

Please watch Alex’s video tour of his new studio, which promises to take the InfoWar to a whole new level. We are more than happy to contribute to such an important undertaking; we hope that you are as well.

Kind regards,
Eric Blair and Michael Edwards

Caribbean Performance Rights Licensing Organisation pays first royalties

By John Francis

The Eastern Caribbean Collective Organisation for Music Rights (ECCO) Inc. on Thursday 12th August 2010, distributed royalties to its members and affiliates around the world for performances of their music in the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

This is the first payout from the organization (formerly HMS) from funds raised under ECCO and relate to royalties collected from music users in 2009 Financial year.

Members and affiliates benefited from a total payout of approximately EC$200,000 with $45,300 being paid directly to ECCO members in the form of Allocations, and the balance being paid on performance details provided by radio stations and major live events such as St. Lucia jazz.

As ECCO expands its operations throughout the OECS it is expected that royalties received and paid out to members and sister societies around the world will increase.

ECCO is an association of composers and publishers of musical works which administers on behalf of its members the performing right within the musical works which are assigned to it.

By virtue of a network of reciprocal agreements with affiliated societies all over the world, ECCO’s repertoire comprises not only the works of its own members but virtually all copyright musical works existing today.

ECCO issues annually renewable licenses to broadcasters, cable operators and premises which play copyright music to the public, from concert venues and discotheques, to hotels, bars, banks, cinemas, shops and offices. In return for a modest royalty payment, licensees are entitled to unlimited access to virtually the entire copyright music repertoire in the world today and saved from the impossible task of contacting and negotiating with individual composers, authors and publishers throughout the world.

ECCO has the mandate to administer the performing right in its repertoire in the OECS, which include Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Anguilla, and the British Virgin Islands.

ECCO was officially launched in St Lucia in January last year. It is governed by a board of directors comprising persons from the OECS with agents in each territory.

Financially Hung Bunny continues to Bounce!

Financially Hung Brande Roderick

The website for Star of Celebrity Apprentice and former Playboy Playmate of the Year Brande Roderick reveal that a book penned by the star in collaboration with Liz Topp entitled Bounce Don’t Break is forthcoming.

In the book Roderick “shares the tips of the trade she’s learned along the way, and encourages women everywhere not to let self-doubt stand in the way of their success.” In short, a woman should maximize her assets, acknowledge her faults, emphasize hard work, self-reliance, and entrepreneurial fortitude in order to succeed.

Roderick’s appearance on the Celebrity Apprentice Season 2 was testimony to the characteristics she seems intent on presenting in her book, and was one of the best sources of entertainment and talent on the show for the Trump organization. Her grit, poise and enduring qualities were constant thorns in the sides of Joan and Melissa Rivers; the latter whose unceremonious departure from the Celebrity Apprentice was cause for drama. Read about it here.

Roderick’s book deal was negotiated by the Literary Group out of New York City and Prince Marketing Group and published by Running Press.

The Seychelles Islands campaign to attract tourists that visit Africa

The Seychelles is launching a new mini-campaign under the banner of ‘Affordable Seychelles’ that entices visitors to African wildlife destinations to then savor the best five selling points of the Seychelles Islands.

Seychelles’ Best Five are a ‘tour de force’ of all that is special about the islands: the diversity of the granite and coral islands, the many world-ranking beaches found throughout the archipelago, the sapphire seas, the year-round climate that has earned it the epithet of ‘ land of perpetual summer and the ethnic diversity and harmony of the people.

“These attributes are as much a part and parcel of the Seychelles Experience as the Big Five are to African wildlife reserves,” states Alain St Ange, the Seychelles Director of Tourism Marketing, “and they are free to one and all – an intrinsic part of our tourism landscape for all to enjoy.”

Apart from raising the profile of the islands’ magnificent natural attributes, the thrust of the campaign twins Seychelles with major African wildlife destinations with offers of a twin-hub vacation that will take visitors from the ‘Big Five’ of the African continent to the ‘Best Five’ of the Seychelles Islands – an ideal combination of experiences that is both magical, affordable – and unforgettable.

The new mini-campaign which is due to be rolled out at the forthcoming ATM Dubai Trade Fair and also at Indaba in South Africa is set to be featured in a wide range of media publications and outlets before it is used in the Seychelles Promotional Campaigns in Tanzania, Kenya & Uganda at the end of May.

Saudis find important Archeological discoveries at its Eastern province

Dr. Ali Ghabban, vice president of SCTA

The Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) announced the discovery of important antiquities in Darain town, Tarot Island, at the eastern province. The findings revealed that the discoveries lie on three layers of settlements indicating three different civilizations.

Dr. Ali Ghabban, vice president of SCTA for Antiquities and Museums, following his visit to Darain stated: “The site represents a residential area, which three civilizations were settled dating back to 2500 years. The first period represents the pre-Islamic era, second period immediately before Islam, and third period represents the early Islamic era.” Dr. Ghabban had inspected the site and briefed on the discovered antiquities in order to specify possible time for handing over the land to its owner after the identifications of the archaeological finds on the site.

Saudi Arabia

In a press statement, Dr. Ghabban stated that the Eastern Province PTO will announce the initial findings, based on the gathered material and discoveries on the site and said, “The research team which unearthed the site got amazing results during a brief period. It was designated as a residential area. They found human skeletons trapped near the palace of Abdul-Wahhab Faihani. Next was the discovery of coins of early Islamic ages, which are yet to be addressed and when done, might give a greater dimension of the region. Well-preserved kitchen sets with complete cooking paraphernalia of the early Islamic times were found with as much as doused-out cinders and fire ashes.

“The kingdom’s eastern province has the most important archaeological sites, which are full of monuments and historic buildings wherever you go and throughout the ages. We hope to take advantage of these findings for tourism and economic development with positive implications on the region.”
