Cricketing legend Greg Chappell MBE has been appointed by Cricket Australia as its first National Talent Manager, a role which will see him become Australian cricket’s first full-time selector. Greg and his brother, Ian Chappell, were potent cricketers who provided excitement to fans all over the world. He comes from a storied lineage in Australian cricket.

Chappell played 87 Test matches for Australia, 48 as captain, and 74 One-day Internationals. He began his cricketing career domestically at South Australia, and played for Somerset, and Queensland. His debut in first class test cricket occurred in 1970 versus England, and ended against Pakistan in 1984.

Cricket Australia’s GM, Michael Brown said he was delighted that a cricket person with Chappell’s life-long depth of experience and expertise in elite cricket was able to take the new role. “We began a detailed review of our cricket pathway program more than four years ago and this appointment is the final step in that comprehensive process,” he said.
